WACKER NEUSON COMPACT EXCAVATOR WITH (VDS) VERTICAL DIGGING SYSTEM
WACKER NEUSON COMPACT EXCAVATOR WITH (VDS) VERTICAL DIGGING SYSTEM I'm reluctant to say that I remember
the introduction of the 4
in1bucket, the extender boom and
the tilt blade. However, this
doesn't just remind me of how old I
am, it also reinforces the fact
that there are always going to be
improvements to the earthmoving
equipment we operate. Innovations
like the ones previously mentioned
have now become standard, almost
essential features and the WACKER
NEUSON (VDS) Vertical Digging
System, is another technological
advance that is here to stay.

Volume 58 - Terex ASV Test Drive
Volume 58 - Terex ASV Test Drive The All New TEREX/ASV Posi-Track PT
Series Has Landed!

Just 8 years ago, ASV introduced the
30hp RC-30, the first R-Series
Posi-Track model out of what would
become a total of 8 models released
to the Australian construction
market. This machine, while small
in size, has helped revolutionise
how contractors undertake tight
access job site tasks that were
previously only done via
back-breaking hand labour.

Volume 57 - Topcon Test Drive "We're glad we made the switch!"
Baden Civil goes to Topcon

Queensland contractor Baden Civil
recently made the switch to Topcon
machine control systems for its
grader and excavator operations,
after a number of years with
another supplier. The company runs
two Topcon X63 3D excavator
indicate systems on its Cat 324D
excavators and a Topcon 3D-GPS+
system on its Cat 12H grader.

Volume 57 - MUSTANG 2056 - SKID STEER LOADER
Volume 57 - MUSTANG 2056 - SKID STEER LOADER The great skid steer debate is still
alive and well, "My Skid Steer is
better than yours!” Well, I'm not
sure how to resolve this lunchroom
banter, however if you're in the
lunchroom with a MUSTANG owner,
you'd be hard pushed to turn him
around.

Volume 56: Mitsubishi Grader MG 230 - From BT Equipment Many years, countless machines and a
gazillion cubic metres of earth
moved and yet, to me fascination
and excitement still exist when
operating or watching the first

Volume 55: Ammann Roller
Volume 55: Ammann Roller Conplant are the Australian
distributors of the Ammann AP 240 H
roller, currently the most popular
PTR on the world market. Features
of the roller include excellent
manoeuvrability with four tyres on
the front and rear with hydrostatic
or mechanical transmission. The
larger fuel tank allows the
operator to work solidly for a
couple of days (up to 25 hours)
before having to refuel, which
makes this machine very cost
effective.

Volume 54: BOMAG BW 25 RH Pneumatic Tyred Roller from BT Equipment
Volume 54: BOMAG BW 25 RH Pneumatic Tyred Roller from BT Equipment There are a couple of things I would
like to accentuate in this report.
Firstly Bomag’s history, not who
started the company but more
importantly, their history of
technological advances and the
proven reliability of their
equipment. As I see it, reliability
is the key to productivity.
Secondly, like Bomag, BT Equipment
have proven themselves over many
years providing sales, service and
back up that I, as a contractor,
can rely on.

Volume 54: JOHN DEERE K SERIES-624 WHEEL LOADER
Volume 54: JOHN DEERE K SERIES-624 WHEEL LOADER “Where’s the TV remote?” It seems
that’s the only thing missing,
among the operator comfort features
designed into the 624K.

JOHN DEERE don’t need to tell you how
good their machines are, or how
long they have been making them;
there’s a good chance if you have
any interest in machinery, you’ve
seen a John Deere brand machine
somewhere.

Volume 52: KOBELCO SK135SR EXCAVATOR
Volume 52: KOBELCO SK135SR EXCAVATOR Efficiency, unbelievably quiet, heaps of
power and minimal tail swing, you
would think that says it all.
However, the SK135SR is one of the
best excavators I have operated; it
is a serious piece of earthmoving
equipment.

Volume 52: HITACHI ZAXIS 17U HYDRAULIC EXCAVATOR Not only does it fit down the side of a

their standards; they are meticulous
with design and quality throughout

Volume 51: SUMITOMO SH 135XU-3B EXCAVATOR
Volume 51: SUMITOMO SH 135XU-3B EXCAVATOR
The 4 in 1 bucket and extended hoe
are a part of my everyday life,
however believe it or not, there
was a time when I scoffed at these
new fangled improvements! Nowadays,
if you put me on a machine for the
day, I’ll take all the design
improvements I can get. This brings
me to the Sumitomo excavator that I
just test drove.

Volume 50: BOMAG Light Compaction Equipment Range from BT Equipment The importance of what I call our
‘finishing plant’ is often
overlooked. It’s not until the
hotmix is about to arrive and your
fighting to start the vibrating
plate or tamper, that you give your
smaller compacting equipment much
thought.

Volume 48: KAWASAKI 80ZV-2 from BT EQUIPMENT
Volume 48: KAWASAKI 80ZV-2 from BT EQUIPMENT When you’re asked to test a machine
with Kawasaki on it, you know that
with 45 years of development behind
them, it’s going to be a good day.

The power and design of the 80ZV-2 is
evident with the first bucket load.
The electronic control module (ECM)
ensures that the engine delivers
plenty of power and depending on
requirement, the engine mode switch
enables you to select either the
power mode, for maximum power or
the fuel efficient mode, which is
suitable for most applications and
provides excellent fuel economy.
